A fine Georgian mahogany bureau and combined 'blind' bookcase. Opening the writing surface reveals twelve decent-sized drawers and six storage compartments. Just above this, at the intersection with the bookcase, there are two slide-out platforms - presumably to sit candles on, but equally useful as a resting place for your preferred tipple! The blind doors to the bookcase are both mirrored, with the right-hand side having a particularly beautiful example of natural foxing. The bottom section has four drawers adorned with ornate handle plates to match the brass ware throughout the rest of the piece. All in all, a rather evocative item in splendid condition.
